Create an Aerial Photo

Step to Create Aerial Photo

Creating an aerial photo is pretty easy and FREE with today's technology.  Be THRIFTY and don't pay for an aerial photo.  Use what's out there and create your own for free!

Follow these steps to create an aerial photo of your property using Google Earth.  Google Earth is a software application that must be installed on your computer.  If you don't have Google Earth installed on your computer you can download it by Clicking Here.
  1. Open the Google Earth application
  2. Locate the "Fly To" tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  3. Type in the closest City and State of which your property is located and press Enter.
  4. The screen will refresh and the map will be centered on the city and state you entered.
  5. Once you get your bearings, take your mouse and hover over the map.  Notice the Mouse Pointer turns to a hand.
  6. Left click on the map, noticing the Mouse Pointer now turns to a closed hand, and move across the map to your property.  (If you're having trouble understanding the map, it may be easier to follow a road that you know leads to your property.)
  7. Once you've found your property on the map, use the Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons to configure the map to your liking.  Zooming in will give your map more detail but be aware that you may not be able to get all of your property in the viewable screen.
  8. Click "File" in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  9. Click "Save."
  10. Click "Save Image."
  11. Select where you want to save the file on your computer.
  12. Click "Save" and you're done.
